This bond allows individuals and businesses to take goods out of Canada for the purpose of display. The ATA Carnet is an international customs document that permits the duty-free and tax-free temporary import of goods for up to one year.
The bond provides guarantee to the Chamber of Commerce that goods will not be sold outside Canada. Should these goods be sold outside Canada, the Principal must provide proof of payment of the applicable duties and taxes. If the Canadian Chamber of Commerce is not provided with proof of payment, a claim may be filed against the bond.
