OUR LOGO

The process of developing an image that reflects our organization and its future path is not a simple one that can be taken lightly.  Not only does consideration have to be given to concrete elements such as colour, size, shape and font, but also to the meaning of a logo, the message that it conveys and its ability to work well as the company evolves. We finally have our new corporate image and in the coming weeks and months, you will see this image accompany our other company logos on collateral items such as our website, stationery, business cards and sales kits. 

Many ideas were tossed around, including using the initials MMIG in lieu of the full name Moore-McLean Insurance Group Ltd.  But it soon became apparent that this didn't capture what the Moore-McLean Insurance Group Ltd. wanted to convey.  Words like protection, coverage and security kept popping up as key elements.  But it wasn't until Daryn McLean sent an email which relayed the details of the Leacock Club's Triangle of Hope program and the creation of the 'McLean Shield' as a means of representing the program's efforts, that the concept of the new logo was born.

Some of you are aware of the Leacock Ryder Cup Golf day that I participate in with some of our clients to raise money for the Leacock Club.  The Leacock Club is a community services organization that raises money for disadvantaged youth, offering hope to people who have little.  

Within the club our small group started a program called Triangle of Hope. Triangle of Hope Program encourages sharing from other schools and we provide separate resources - financial and otherwise - to the disadvantaged. Typically, but not always, the sharing involves three schools: an inner city Toronto school, an independent Toronto school, and a school in the townships of South Africa.  

This golf day was created 6 years ago and was named Leacock Club Gentlemen's Tournament to raise funds for the Triangle of Hope. This day was created to celebrate sportsmanship, friendship, competitiveness, giving, character and charity.  These words reminded the organizers of my late father, Fred McLean and therefore they named the trophy after him. It is called the McLean Shield.  The winning team keeps the McLean Shield until next year's event. Our team, The Brave, won the tournament last year and as some of you would have noticed, shield was hung in our front lobby. I am proud to announce that The Brave won again this year and we will have the trophy again for part of this year.

Daryn's email formed the basis of the inspiration for the logo, and the shield image just seemed too perfect for words.  Not only does this image convey strength, protection, quality and nobility, but it hints at the history of the McLean family name and pays homage to the late Fred McLean, one of the company's founders.  We think Fred would be proud of this new graphic representation of the organization he helped to build, and we hope you enjoy displaying this logo as much as we enjoyed taking part in its creation.

So, without further delay, may we introduce the new image for The Moore-McLean Insurance Group Ltd... (drum roll, please...)
